What we need from you for a cross-border load
Customs clearance is filed before the truck reaches the booth, so the paperwork has to be right when the load is booked. Have these ready:
- Commercial invoice (or Canada Customs Invoice): shipper, consignee, description, value, currency and country of origin.
- Bill of lading that matches the invoice — piece count, weight and description.
- Your customs broker, so the entry can be pre-filed: PARS for loads entering Canada, PAPS for loads entering the United States.
- Special handling flagged up front: hazmat class and UN number, reefer set point, or over-dimension permits and escorts.
